Things to do and see:
The full name of Setenil de las Bodegas dates from the 15th century, when new Christian settlers, in addition to maintaining the Arab olive and almond groves, introduced vineyards. Modern Setenil evolved from a fortified Moorish town that occupied a bluff overlooking a sharp bend in the Rio Trejo northwest of Ronda.
Setenil de las Bodegas is famous for its dwellings built into rock overhangs above the Rio Trejo. As soon as you arrive to the old town you start to walk in streets that are built under the mountain. The houses are caves directly placed inside the rock. The main touristic
attractions of Setenil are Calle Cuevas del Sol and Calle Cuevas de la Sombra. Calle Cuevas del Sol has houses just in one of the sides and the river in the other side, when calle Cuevas de la Sombra has buildings in both sides and the rock on top of them in many occasions. It is impressive to walk in there and see how the people in the old times were able to take advantage of the natural resources.
If you are ready to climb a little bit and take some steps to could walk to el Barrio de la Villa could you could visit the Moorish Castle and the Church of la Encarnación.
